Outside of work and volunteering at local events, Dave enjoys making, restoring, and improving things. He has rebuilt old vehicles, reconditioned boats, restored antiques, and spent more than two years designing and completing a ground-up restomod of a Datsun 240Z which he called the 'IceHound Z'. The finished car (below) has achieved notable and viral recognition within the vintage Japanese car community and on the internet, it is often often cited on enthusiast forums and platforms like the Classic Zcar Community as an exemplar of an S30 restoration.

 

He also enjoys gardening, photography (published), hiking, canoeing, and sailing. For a time, Dave was heavily involved in equestrian activities as well, although the cost eventually made that particular hobby a little harder to justify.
 

Most of all, he enjoys spending time outdoors and sharing these interests with his wife and son.
